A Bengali Sacrificial Ritual
2026-01-12 11:29:02This series of photographs was taken in Bangladesh in 2025. As part of a local religious ritual, Hindu devotees in Bangladesh craft effigies of straw figures before Holi. On the final day of the festival, these effigies are cast into the muddy banks along the lower reaches of the Jamuna River, symbolizing the washing away of sins and welcoming auspiciousness.
