Desertified Mongolian Grasslands
2026-01-12 11:41:18

This series of photographs taken in Mongolia captures the current state of the Mongolian steppe. Once among the world's largest undisturbed grasslands, the Mongolian Plateau now faces unprecedented challenges. According to a report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Mongolia's steppe is degrading at an alarming rate due to climate warming and increased human activities. This not only threatens local biodiversity but also has profound implications for the global climate. The international community must unite in efforts to protect and restore grasslands in countries like Mongolia. This is not only crucial for safeguarding local ecosystems but also for maintaining global climate stability. I have been photographing desertification of the Mongolian grasslands since 2023 and will continue to follow this issue.
