People living along the banks of the Jamuna River
2026-01-12 11:45:49

This series of photographs, taken in Bangladesh in 2025, documents the daily lives of people along the banks of the Jamuna River. As a major tributary of the Ganges-Brahmaputra River system, the Jamuna flows through Bangladesh, serving as the lifeblood for local residents' livelihoods and daily existence. As the “Mother River,” it nourishes the surrounding farmlands, sustains fisheries and water transportation, and shapes unique ways of life through the floods brought by the monsoon. The rhythm of riverside life is inextricably linked to the river's tides and the monsoon. Tradition and modernity intertwine with the flow of the river, forming a culture of long-term symbiosis between people and nature on this land.
